It's All About the Animals: My Passion for Pet Portraits
I paint a lot of things that I love — flowers, South Texas landscapes, nature in all its quiet beauty. But if I'm being honest, pet portraits hold a completely special place in my heart.
There's something that happens when I'm working on a portrait of someone's animal. It's not just about getting the likeness right — though that matters deeply. It's about capturing them. The way they tilt their head. The mischief behind their eyes. The particular way they look at the person they love most in the world.
That's what I'm always chasing with every portrait I create.

Pets are family. Full stop.
I don't think I need to convince you of that — if you're reading this, you already know. Our pets love us without condition, without agenda, and without reservation. They show up for us on our hardest days and make our ordinary days feel like something worth celebrating.
A portrait doesn't just capture what they look like. It captures what they mean.
And that's the part that makes my heart full every single time.

Why I love creating pet portraits
Every animal I paint is completely different — different energy, different markings, different personality — and that variety is part of what makes this work so exciting and fulfilling for me. No two portraits are ever the same because no two animals are ever the same.
I love being trusted with that. When someone sends me photos of their pet and says "this is my whole heart" — I feel the weight of that, and I take it seriously.
My goal with every portrait is simple: when you see it hanging on your wall, I want it to feel like them. Not just look like them — feel like them. The personality, the warmth, the spirit that made you fall in love in the first place.

For the ones we've lost
Some of the most meaningful portraits I create are memorial pieces — painted after a beloved pet has passed. If this is something you're considering, please know that I approach this work with the utmost care and tenderness.
A portrait can become one of the most comforting things you own. A way to keep them close. A way to honor everything they gave you.
If your photos are older or lower quality, don't let that stop you from reaching out. I can often work with several images together to create something that truly feels like the pet you loved.

A portrait makes your home feel more like you
There's something about seeing your pet's face on the wall — rendered with color, personality, and heart — that just feels different from a photograph. It's personal in a way that store-bought art never can be.
It's a conversation piece, a keepsake, and a daily reminder of a love that matters.

Whether you're celebrating a pet who is very much alive and full of mischief, or honoring one who left paw prints on your heart forever — I would love to create something meaningful for you.
